Name: Lakshmi, Master Behaviorist | Species: Red-tailed boa constrictor (Nagaina) |
Gender: female |
| Age: early 20's |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Lakshmi |
Description:
Lakshmi was an attractive, healthy 18' boa Nagai. However, like many folks with a talent, she tended to focus almost exclusively on her first love - working with animals. As a Master of the School of Behavior Modification in Nagai City, she could most often be found working "hands on", dressed with mostly fashion-unconscious practicality.
Accompanied by her faithful companion, a Skreek named Skye, she embarked on many adventurers, obtaining rare specimens of fauna from across the Savan. They had the distinction of being assigned to the first expedition exploring the Tower of Barabbas in the Himaat Desert, but adventure turned to in-fighting and then tragedy, with a stand-off at the tower with the forces of the Khattan Emir.
It is unknown what became of Lakshmi or Skye, as the Emir decided to leave them isolated in the Tower, in the middle of the desert, with dwindling reserves, rather than to storm the structure. When the Tower was later revisited by an expedition led by Mage Envoy of Lothrhyn, no trace was found of the intrepid explorers. |

|
Name: Leeta | Species: Savanite |
Gender: female |
| Age: 20 (approx) |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: J.Boulton |
Description:
Leeta, once known as Fire-Mane, is a highly distinctive slave. She is taller by a head than most Savanites,
has king-cheetah blotches, and fire red hair. The Star marked
her this way, to keep her brave.
She has changed owners several times, and now is a Rephidim Temple slave.
Formerly owned by Arch-Inquisitor Caesar Moffat, she is now the property of Tahir Archelaus III, the currently-reigning Captain-Astromancer, and arguably the most powerful man on Sinai.
Even more curious is that, somewhat secretly, she has turned out to be a "Savanite Princess" ... and a sister to the Priest-Queen of the City of Hands. |

|
Name: Lochinvar Arques | Species: Hekoye |
Gender: male |
| Age: 26 |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Francisco |
Description:
Although Lochinvar is truely a Hekoye, and bears some resemblance to
them, he is not, and believes he is not. What sets him aside from his
race are his large black (and functional) wings. He has no knowledge
of his birth parents, only of the pair of Vartans that adopted him
and raised him as their own. For that reason, that of not knowing
any differently, he believes that he is a Vartan, can speak their
language perfectly, and will often be found socializing with them.
Of course, no-one is without their faults. Being raised by Vartans,
he picked up their affination for shinies, being known to
either stare at crystal formations for hours on end or pick up the
odd trinket to entwine into his tail. Another of his faults is
gambling, though fortunately not compulisively. It's not unknown for
him to jump into a game of chance, or take a risk now and then...
Originally a Rephidim dock-hand (who occassionally took contracts on
airships to far away lands - as a way to see the world), the Temple
offered him a position as a Ranger after his completion of two Temple
sponsored expeditions - the latter of which being cut short due to the
Rephidim/Nagai war. Under the assurance from the Temple that he would
be considered for future exploratory missions, Lochinvar accepted.
In the years following, Lochinvar has been called upon several times
as an 'expert' on the Planet Arcadia, but also has been content with
exploring a region of Sinai he never really gave much time to - the
forests beyond Rephidim City - sometimes spending several weeks out
there on his own. If anything these times he spent out there on his
own, while still performing his duty, has honed his skill in survival
without relying on everyday things taken for granted.
Lochinvar also distinguished himself in a return trip to the Tower of Barabbas, in an expedition led by the notorious Exile Earth Mage, Envoy of Lothrhyn. |

Name: Maleficos Dunbarre | Species: poodle |
Gender: male |
| Age: in his 50s |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Lynx |
|
Description:
Maleficos is the highest inquisitor the Rephidim Temple
boasts, and crueller and more depraved by his position and power than the
others. Few escape his office untouched. Among his duties are the processing
of Exiles, who must first be taught the Rephidim common language and then
interrogated as to where they came from and how they came to Sinai.

|
Name: Mira | Species: Brown Khatta |
Gender: female |
| Age: Early Middle Age |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Jennifer Sarantites |
Description:
Mira is the captain of the airship Poodle Engaging In All Possible Vices
Simultaneously With Tremendous Satisfaction - commonly known as
The Glutton.
Airship captains are an unusual group, travelling Sinai in the pursuit
of their duties. Mira, therefore, could turn up anywhere; her
"home base," however, seems to be Rephidim - as far as anyone can
tell. She is in business for herself, taking all kinds of
contracts. She'll do most anything that isn't, in her opinion, too
dangerous to her ship and crew. If it has to be kept quiet, she'll
keep it quiet ... provided she's compensated adequately for the trouble!
Nobles, merchants, nations, factions, the Temple ... all are potential
customers. The Glutton flies no flag save her own. She can be
fitted with arms for military missions, ferry passengers and VIPs, or
supplies. It depends on the customer -- but any special requirements
will, of course, cost extra.
Mira doesn't tell much about herself, preferring to keep most of
her associations professional. Whether this will change in the future
remains to be seen.

Gender: male |
| Age: 18 |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Darin Clark (kellis) |
Description:
Mircus is a young (journeyman) Rath'ani cartographer (mapmaker). Cheerful to the last, a mite naive,
and fairly honest, his plain and simple clothes and lifestyle don't bother him in the least. when he gets
the chance, he likes to just wander about and see what there is to see; exploratin for exploration's sake.
Recent experience has sobred the youth somewhat and given him a slight distaste for bugs, otherwise leaving
him relatively unchanged. |

|
Name: Old Master Long Tooth | Species: kiriga |
Gender: male |
| Age: Old as dirt. (???) |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Glumilan |
|
Description:
Long Tooth, ancient master of the "Arthritic Open Paw of Severe Drubbing" fighting techique, is considered something of a spin-off 'myth' associated with the infamous Compass Rose. Obscure legend has it that he was an arch-rival of Shikouju, the Sable Palm. They had many skirmishes, but ultimately, Shikouju eluded Long Tooth, and the conflict was never resolved. It's less known that the old master is still alive, though popular rumor insisted that he was 'too mean to die'.
The cranky kiriga now roams Sinai in search of his greatest foe, staying alive by sheer force of will. Once Shikouju is vanquished, either by his hand, or by a clue, ("I'm TELLING you, old man! Shikouju is DEAD! No longer with us! Gone!") it is likely Old Master Tooth will continue his wandering, seeking new combatants to face, new students to teach, and a place he can mooch until he feels he can die comfortable and satisfied. |

|
Name: Qing, Zhu Ye | Species: Rokuga (Six-armed Naga) |
Gender: male |
| Age: Middle to late 50's |
Homeworld: Sinai (Nagai Empire) |
Played by: Glumilan |
|
Description:
An albino rokuga, that is, a naga with six limbs, in this case, all arms. He is sensitive to sunlight. Since, like many snakes, he has no eyelids, Qing wears a pair of dark spectacles,
and a black hat fashioned into a broad bowl shape from laquered wood, or perhaps chitin. He wears a white mantle, with the arcane symbol of the spirit on the chest and back, the vestments
of a spirit warder. He seldom, if ever, has any reason to alter this look. He has sometimes been seen to reveal two pendants, small and crafted from wood, from where they're usually hidden
by the neck of his mantle.
Professionally, Witchdoctor Zhu Ye Qing is known to be a professor of the Higher Institute of Sorcery and the Supernatural, a magic university in the Imperial capitol.
Though he began his training in the Sphere of Spirit far later than most apprentices, a previously undiscovered aptitude mixed with a focus his colleagues would call 'consuming'
drove him to reach a level of proficiency that wouldn't seem out of the ordinary for someone of his age. He is known for his voracious pursuit of knowledge, and though he
sees duty as a coroner and investigator in the service of the Imperial government, he has enough tenure to be allowed to roam Sinai, hiring out his services to further his research.
In a more personal sense, Qing is somewhat of an enigma. Though his colleagues respect him, on a less official level they would recount the rokuga's bitter and self-centered nature.
He makes it plain that he has no tolerance for idiots, and is condescending to people he deems of no importance.
Qing is known to be obsessed with his work, such that he typically shuns the company of others if he can avoid it. When not otherwise occupied, he can often be found doing menial
tasks in the crypts under his care, or meditating in graveyards or libraries, where it's quiet. Because he spends so much time close to his work, Qing smells strongly of the crypts,
of embalming fluid, of the acid used to scour flesh from bones, ash, and various other things associated with death and burial rites. This does nothing to make him more popular.
The witchdoctor does value certain things. Sanctity of the dead is important to him, in a strange sense. Competancy and efficiency impress him enough to treat those who demonstrate it
with the respect people accord most sentient living things. Dignity is important, such that he distains frivolity. For some reason contrasting with his usual tendancies, though he may
be stern towards them, Qing will not snap at or raise his voice at children, and will look to their welfare if he is in a direct position to do so. |

Name: Rasha | Species: Vykarin |
Gender: female |
| Age: mid-20's |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Fred M. Sloniker |
|
Description:
A traveller from her frozen homeland to the lofty heights of Rephidim,
one who has had little time to become accustomed to the local society
and customs. Still, she speaks the language well, better than most
Vykarin, and managed to scrape enough wealth together to open a shop
in the Bazaar, from which she plies her finely-crafted shellwork.
Generally timid, friendly, and straightforward, but can become vicious
if deceived (in the unlikely event that she realizes this has
happened; she's a trifle gullible). |

|
Name: Rasheeka | Species: Khatta |
Gender: female |
| Age: Late Teens |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Brenna |
Description:
Al-Elsayi Rasheeka bint Ashquar
A daughter of a wealthy noble family from Tizhar, Rasheeka's father died when she was twelve or so. Rasheeka was a scholarly, bookish young woman, not much interested in either practical matters, or in the elaborate parties her mother loved to give. Her mother was an extravagant woman given to spending freely on whatever she wanted. Their estate couldn't support her spending, and her mother began to borrow heavily to cover what she wanted, while Rasheeka continued to enjoy excellent tutors and ready access to books, largely oblivious to her mother's debts.
Eventually, mom secured a large loan against the estate, then invested the cash from that in a business venture which failed. Distraught and overwhelmed by the prospect of losing the estate (and still having all her other debts to pay), mom killed herself. The estate was then sold at auction, with all their possessions, including Rasheeka, to cover the debts.
After changing hands twice Rasheeka finds herself as servant to an exotic prince (a "tyr"). Plunged in to the middle of this fascinating look at the cultural and political activities of a xenophobic nation as it struggles to open itself Rasheeka strains to adapt even as the machinations of her masters threaten to destroy her. |

Name: Roho | Species: Fennec |
Gender: male |
| Age: 85 |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: |
Description:
Roho is a small (about 4 feet, 4 1/2 if you count the ears) desert fox
from the Himaat region of Sinai. His race is small, making them an
uncommon sight in most areas. Roho has spent his life learning how
to heal, and how to live simply. Losing his sight around the age of
50 didn't stop him...he now hunts and heals by sound, smell, and
touch. For his race, even a 60 year old is considered quite old, so he
sees his longevity as a challenge. He feels he's been left on the
world to complete something, though he's not sure what. |

|
Name: Rory | Species: Aeonian (unicorn) |
Gender: male |
| Age: 11? |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Greywolf |
Description:
Rorshach (Rory for short) was a young Aeonian with strange markings
on his hide, who was trained as an apprentice in the Sphere of
Shadow. Since it is generally believed that the Aeonians on Sinai arrived as Exiles en masse several centuries ago, and are unable to procreate, his very existence is a puzzle. He started his studies in the Guild Hall of Babel, before the War of the Sabaoth and the Babelite/Nagai Alliance, but was sent to Rephidim to continue his studies. He disappeared during an extended "field trip" of College Esoterica apprentices heading to Lamu, and it is generally believed that he died in the wilds. |

|
Name: Scarlet | Species: Originally Aelfin |
Gender: female |
| Age: Indeterminate |
Homeworld: Sinai |
Played by: Brenna (character deceased) |
Description:
Hailing from the Aelfhem region in continent of Ur, Scarlet is one of
the little-understood race of Aelfin.
Years ago, Wynona Windcaller
visited her village when her airship, the Lalee-Papu, crashed.
Requested by the village elder of Scarlet's hometown to deal with some
'dragons', really other Eeee, Wynona managed to settle a
misunderstanding between the local Eeee and the Aelfin and end a nine
hundred year war.
Ever since this time Scarlet has held the allergy-prone Eeee as her personal role model, and as such she left her village
to understand and learn about the world Wynona came from. One of the
first stops of the Aelfin was the sky city of Rephidim where she was
taken to the College Esoterica.
Upon explaining the legend of Wynona,
and that she had no magic powers, she was offered training as a mage so
she could be monitored for potential racial magic affinity. Thus Scarlet
became a mage, and a proficient one at that, taking Water Magic as her
first sphere.
Eventually Scarlet would sustain fatal injuries during a disaster relief effort in Aelfhem. All though revived by a magic wand she was later killed in a political struggle while trapped in the body of a Fuff'nar. |
