The following is a sample of common handguns and shotguns and other sidearms that might be found on the street (some more so than others).
Ammunition for weapons costs one percent of the cost of the weapon itself for 1 full clip or belt. If there are multiple versions of a weapon (e.g., "street version") listed, then the cost of ammunition is calculated from the most expensive version - since the ammunition presumably is the same.
Availability "B" means that the item can be found in specialty shops, and can be more or less freely used. For weapons, this applies to most guns and melee weapons that do less than 1d6 damage.
Availability "C" means that the item has restricted use, and that a license is required to purchase, possess and operate it. Most weapons are classified as "C". Powered melee weapons, pistols, machine pistols, SMGs, assault rifles, shotguns and sniper rifles usually fall under this category. It may be assumed that all members of Dawn Alert have the appropriate licenses to use whatever weapons they may possess.
Availability "D" means that the item is forbidden, available only on the black market. This would apply to "heavy weapons", such as rocket launchers and machine guns, as well as illegal modifications of existing weapons (e.g., sawed-off shotguns). It is possible that someone may be allowed to possess a heavy weapon, provided that it is properly registered, and kept in a locked storage unit for the duration of its stay in Luna City. Taking out and discharging such a weapon would invite stiff penalties.
Availability "E" indicates an item that is rare and thus hard to find because of its antiquity or unavailability.
Availability "F" means that the item is a high-tech item and only available through corporate channels.
Katana
Katanas are the long killing blades favored by Samurai. They are
the most common Mishiman close combat weapons.
Wakizashi are the short-bladed weapons most normally used for
committing seppuku. Samurai who have mastered the two-hand technique use
them as an additional combat blade.
Carrying both of these blades - that is, carrying the Daisho ("Long and Short") - is a mark of position as a Samurai. In Mishiman society, for a non-Samurai to be found carrying these weapons is punishable by death.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | 1 Handed Dam. | 2 Handed Dam. | Avail | Cost |
| Katana | 3.4 lbs. | 119 cm | 1d4 | 1d6 | B | 9,700 crowns |
| Wakizashi | 2.0 lbs. | 80 cm | 1d4 | 1d6 | B | 7,700 crowns |
Chainripper
This is a devastating weapon, produced by Imperial weaponsmiths for use by the Cartel, and since then replicated by the various corporations and in use by the Brotherhood as well. It works much like a chainsaw, with rapidly moving teeth that tear through armor, sinew and bone with relative ease, though it requires a strong wielder, lest the weapon simply yank itself out of one's hand. (Game terms: Requires Strength 2 or greater to use.) The major drawback of the weapon is that it is a powered weapon and not as energy efficient as power swords such as the Violator or Punisher Short Sword, and quite noisy, making stealth impossible while the weapon is operating. Furthermore, unlike most weapons, this weapon is capable of jamming. (It has a Jam Factor/Reliability Factor of 5. If it jams, the weapon is only useful as a mace for 1d4 damage until it can be disassembled and repaired.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | 1 Handed Dam. | 2 Handed Dam. | Avail | Cost |
| Chainripper | 5.0 lbs | 110 cm | 1d10 | | C | 8,000 crowns |
Punisher Short Sword
The Punisher short sword, while originally a Brotherhood design, has been replicated by just about every Merchant Corporation and several freelance corporations as well. It is compact, durable, and quite sharp. This sword is best known for being virtually unbreakable.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | 1 Handed Dam. | 2 Handed Dam. | Avail | Cost |
| Punisher SS | 3.4 lbs. | 80 cm | 1d6 | 1d6 | C | 14,600 crowns |
Tsume Pistol
This is essentially a stripped down, mass-produced, every-corner-cut cheap personal firearm that has the appearance of but not the performance of the Ronin pistol. It is so cheap and "disposable" that it has an integral clip. The almost all-plastic construction degrades noticeably after going through a single clip. It's intended to be kept in a purse or glove compartment to be used in the case of an emergency, for personal protection, and not for regular combat, per se. It has found its way into the hands of criminals, of course, some of whom appreciate its largely plastic construction for thwarting metal detectors - Although the gun is deliberately fashioned with some metal components included for the express purpose of setting off detectors and avoiding this problem, it's a fairly simple matter for one of a criminal bent to alter the weapon to remove these components.
(An altered Tsume pistol that is reloaded will experience an increased failure rate. After one clip has been expended, the gun will now jam on 19 or 20. After two clips, this falls on 18, 19 or 20. If it survives this long, subsequent clips will degrade the gun enough to increase the failure chance even further. Bullets cost 10 crowns each, regardless of version.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Tsume | 0.6 | 25 cm | 6 | semi | 20/30 m | 0 | 1d4 | B | 200 crowns |
| Tsume (street version) | 0.7 | 25 cm | 6 | auto | 14/21 m | 0 | 1d4 | D | 500 crowns |
Sherman Model 7 "Enforcer" Revolver
The Enforcer is one of the cheapest and most popular guns on the streets. It is famous for its reliability. Because of its low cost, it is the most commonly used sidearm of private cops, small time hoods, and homeowners. You can find Enforcers almost everywhere.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| M-7 Enforcer | 1.0 | 27 cm | 6 | double action | 70/105 m | 8 | 1d4 | B | 1,000 crowns |
HG-12 Handgun
This small automatic handgun is designed for personal defense. It is particularly handy as a holdout weapon, as its size makes it easily concealable.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| HG-12 | 1.0 | 12 cm | 6 | auto | 25/40 m | 8 | 1d4+1 | B | 2,000 crowns |
HG-25 Equalizer Handgun
This handgun is characterized by its phenomenal stopping power and its simplicity of use and care. As a revolver, many potential buyers scoff at its limited ammunition capacity and its longer reload time, but in the Bauhaus tradition, it is remarkably reliable. For a Bauhaus weapon, it's cheap, too.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| HG-25 "Equalizer" | 1.5 | 27 cm | 6 | double action | 40/60 m | 9 | 1d6+2 | C | 3,000 crowns |
MP-105 (Pistol)
Standard issue sidearm of Bauhaus. As with all Bauhaus weapons, quite reliable, and the caseless ammunition allows for a greater capacity per clip.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| MP-105 | 1.9 | 31 cm | 58 | auto | 50/75 m | 9 | 1d6+1 | C | 7,200 crowns |
Ronin Pistol
This is a very lightweight pistol with almost nothing in the way of serviceable parts. Thanks largely to a visual similarity to the almost disposable "Tsume" plastic pistol, it has inherited an unwarranted reputation for unreliability and low performance. In actuality, it's one of the best weapons in its class.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Ronin | 1.5 | 30 cm | 15 | auto | 50/75 m | 8 | 1d6 | C | 3,000 crowns |
Sherman .74 Model 13 "Bolter" Handgun
The M-13 Bolter is the most common handgun manufactured by Capitol, and sees frequent civilian use. (The average Capitolian citizen has a gun and knows how to use it.) This weapon is meant to be used with two hands, given its large caliber, thus the odd design. (In game terms, a character must have "Novice" (2 pt.) Enhanced Strength or better to use a Bolter one-handed, or else suffers a penalty of one Rank when shooting with it.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| M-13 Bolter | 2.2 | 36 cm | 18 | semi-auto | 30/45 m | 4 | 1d6+1 | C | 1,900 crowns |
Sherman Model 15 'Ironfist' Military Sidearm
This is basically a military version of the M-13 Bolter, with an integral grenade launcher mounted under the barrel. This is most certainly not the sort of handgun that you try to perform the "John Woo Method" with. (In game terms, you need "Average" or better Strength to use this weapon one-handed.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| M-15 Ironfist | 2.5 | 39 cm | 25 | auto | 40/60 m | 3 | 1d6+1 | C | 2,700 crowns |
| (grenade launcher | | | 1 | manual | 50/75 m | 5 | 1d6+1 | C | |
Piranha Handgun
This looks like a slimmed-down, sleeker version of the Punisher handgun ... and that's essentially what it is. It is small enough to be concealed under bulky clothing, but it doesn't really have the penetration required to go through body armor. It is mostly designed for the use of undercover operatives (such as Revisors) or law enforcement. After all, it usually just necessary to stop a charging attacker rather than to kill him outright, and even with armor, a direct hit from this gun is usually enough to make any human attacker at least stumble.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Piranha | 1.0 | 21 cm | 11 | semi-auto | 70/105 m | 3 | 1d4+1 | C | 19,900 crowns |
P-60 Punisher Handgun
The Punisher handgun is heavy hitting, and only particularly strong individuals can use it effectively. There are many variations on this weapon, since it is not manufactured exclusively by the Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, in an attempt to help the megacorporations fight the Dark Legion, made the designs available to all of the megacorporations at the time. As a result, just about every megacorporation has its own production of the weapon. Mishima produces a variation with a silencer and an extended clip in the handle, which is a favored weapon of the Deathbringers and Shadow Walkers. (In game terms, you need at least "Novice" (2 pt.) Enhanced Strength to use a Punisher handgun one-handed.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Punisher Handgun | 2.5 | 32 cm | 13 | auto | 70/105 m | 7 | 1d6+2 | C | 8,400 crowns |
| Punisher (Silenced) | 3.0 | 38 cm | 24 | auto | 50/75 m | 6 | 1d6+1 | D | 9,500 crowns |
Avalanche Handgun
This is a relatively rare weapon because of its exceptionally short lifespan for a handgun. The performance of this weapon drops noticeably with each clip gone through, and it usually is in need of replacement after the "average" fire fight. Still, it packs even more punch than the Punisher handgun. (In game terms, you need at least "Novice" Strength to use an Avalanche Handgun effectively at all, and at least "Average" Strength to use it one-handed. If the gun jams, it's basically scrap, as replacing it is cheaper than repairing it.)
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Avalanche Handgun | 3.5 | 32 cm | 6 | auto | 60/90 m | 5 | 1d8+2 | C | 9,000 crowns |
Nemesis Machine Pistol
This weapon is designed to be able to put a lot of lead into the air quickly, though it lacks accuracy and penetration. It is a standard weapon issued to Brotherhood Troopers, and is available in a number of variations. The standard Nemesis can be fitted with an under-the-barrel grenade launcher or a small flame-thrower. The Mortificators make use of a silenced version of the pistol for up-close-and-personal combat against lightly-armored targets.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Nemesis | 2.2 | 38 cm | 40 | auto | 100/150 m | 8 | 1d6+1 | C | 13,500 crowns |
| (grenade launcher) | 1.0 | | 1 | manual | 30/45 m | 8 | 1d6+2 | C | 1,700 crowns |
Aggressor Handgun
This is the standard handgun of Imperial troops, and also available in a civilian version for law enforcement. As with most Imperial weapons, it features a handy digital ammunition counter on the side.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Aggressor | 2.3 | 34 cm | 26 | auto | 20/30 m | 4 | 1d6 | C | 2,400 crowns |
Windrider SMG
This SMG is plagued by a reputation as an unreliable weapon - largely because it is. The grenade launcher unit under the barrel is detachable.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Windrider | 2.7 | 51 cm | 51 | auto | 160/240 m | 3 | 1d6 | C | 5,500 crowns |
| (grenade launcher) | 0.8 | | 1 | manual | 20/30 m | 3 | 1d6 | C | 850 crowns |
CAR-24 SMG
The CAR-24 is an SMG regularly used by Capitol forces. The CAR-24 has an integral grenade launcher.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| CAR-24 SMG | 3.6 | 65/53 cm | 20 | auto | 120/180 m | 7 | 1d6+1 | C | 4,600 crowns |
| (grenade launcher) | | | 1 | manual | 50/75 | 5 | 1d6+1 | C | |
Lyon & Atkinson MK III S "Eliminator"
The Eliminator was originally developed at the request of Imperial Security Command. It was to be the classic assassination weapon: quiet, powerful and lethal. Despite some teething troubles, its reputation was soon well-established, and it became the weapon of choice for close-up gangland hits. Its small size makes it concealable, and its integral silencer and flash suppresser make it hard to detect in operation. Many of the parts are made of custom ceramics and plastics, so the gun doesn't show up on metal detectors or other security scans. A limited number of these weapons have found their way onto the street.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Eliminator | 3.0 | 50 cm | 20 | auto | 100/150 m | 1 | 1d6+1 | D | 10,200 crowns |
Airbrush Shotgun
This weapon comes in single and double-barrel versions, and is rarely used in the military. It is more often seen in use by Mishiman police and security forces. It has a well-earned reputation for being unreliable.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Airbrush | 5.0 | 67 cm | 14 | semi-auto | 20/30 m | 1 | 1d4 | C | 6,500 crowns |
HG-14 Hagelsturm Shotgun
Pump-fed shotgun, standard issue to sergeants and combat medics. Stock and scope mount can be easily removed. The stock and scope are often removed and the barrel sawn down to produce a standard "street version" as well.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| HG-14 | 6.0 | 82/66 cm | 5 | manual | 45 m | 8 | 1d6 | C | 14,000 crowns |
| Street Version | 4.6 | 64 cm | 5 | manual | 19 m | 2 | 1d4 | D | varies |
M516 Shotgun
The M516S is a single barrel pump shotgun commonly used by Capitolian police forces, and a number have found their ways into the hands of criminals as well. A strictly military version is produced as well, the M516D, which has two barrels (one over the other) and two pumps, capable of being fired in single- or double-barrel modes.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| M516S | 6.4 | 94 cm | 6 | semi-auto | 21 m | 3 | 1d4 | C | 8,200 crowns |
| M516D | 7.7 | 88 cm | 12 | auto | 15 m | 3 | 1d4+1 | C | 9,600 crowns |
Mandible Autoshotgun
The Mandible autoshotgun is a drum-fed shotgun capable of automatic fire. The stock is often removed and the barrel shortened for close combat use as a "street sweeper". Alas, it has a reputation as a weapon popular amongst criminals and terrorists for use against unarmored targets. Due to this reputation, it has been banned in Luna City.
| Weapon | Weight | Length | Clip | Mode | Range | Reliability | Damage | Avail | Cost |
| Mandible | 7.5 | 81/64 cm | 19 | auto | 32 m | 5 | 1d6+1 | D | 11,400 crowns |
